Update: COVID-19

The effect of COVID-19 on the Social Care sector has been highly publicised in recent month and we wanted to take this opportunity to explain our efforts to protect both our Guests and our Team.

We have worked tirelessly to ensure that all those under our care have been protected throughout and have implemented a number of changes to day to day life to make sure this continues to be the case.

We started this process back on the 23rd February by reducing social contacts asking for all non-essential visits to cease, as the situation developed we then moved to restrict movements further by introducing a “live-in” team, this lasted a total of 5 weeks when transmission in the community was at its worst.

Our entire team has been mandated to wear full PPE at all times when in contact with our service users, this took effect in early March and continues to be the case today. We also temperature screen all that come to the home at point of entry, anyone with any signs or symptoms of the virus are denied entry.

We have built up a sturdy and comprehensive supply of PPE with healthy reserves should the demand for it be increased.

We have invested in additional equipment aimed at reducing the chances of the virus being transmitted within our setting, we have HEPA air purifiers and filters fitted in all communal areas, as well as these, we will shortly be in receipt of Disinfectant “fogging” machines for regular use throughout the home. These are in addition to the already enhanced cleaning and disinfecting regime introduced earlier in the year.

Visits within the home are currently still suspended, we recently relaxed this policy to allow for pre-booked appointments to take place in our garden, while of course respecting the 2m social distancing guidelines.

This week will see the inception of our weekly testing program for all employees and monthly testing for all service users.

It has been our aim throughout the pandemic to do everything we possibly can to keep everyone safe, through careful planning, thoughtful preparation and incredible hard work by our team, we have achieved this goal.
